For more extravagant flavours, you can savour a fried shark or barramundi, which are very popular variations in certain regions of Australia and New Zealand. The most classic ones are cooked with cod, haddock, or sole, well fried in oil and served with crispy fries drizzled with malt vinegar. Breadcrumbs can also replace the traditional beer batter, depending on your preference. This is where we buy our fish & chip takeaway from on a Friday evening. Sharky’s is the BEST takeaway fish & chip shop on the Penbeagle Industrial estate at the back of St Ives. No list of places to eat fish & chips in St Ives would be complete without Sharky’s! LOCATION MAP: Penbeagle Lane, Saint Ives TR26 2JH They do a cracking fish and chips at Pedn Olva – highly recommended, super delicious with lovely tartare sauce! If you are lucky enough to get a table by the full length windows be prepared to just sit there are gaze! You can sit out upstairs on the terrace, or sit inside in their very delightful restaurant. You can’t beat Pedn Olva for it’s restaurant views. LOCATION MAP: 27 Warren, Saint Ives TR26 2EA It is a tad more expensive, but the taste and setting makes it worth it! Porthminster Beach Cafe do gorgeous fish and chips on their lunchtime menu (as well as the most tasty crispy fried squid on the planet!). LOCATION MAP: Porthminster Beach, Carbis Bay, Saint Ives TR26 2EB We only go there on very special occasions as we always feel the need to dress nicely when we eat there! It is a very classy establishment on Fore Street in St Ives. LOCATION MAP: 45 Fore St, Saint Ives TR26 1HE I've not eaten their fish and chips yet, but I have heard some very good things! LOCATION MAP: Chapel St, Saint Ives TR26 2LRīy The Sea has 2 places in St Ives, one of Chapel Street (it took over the old Albatross) and one on Tregenna Place. It is a great place to see the lifeboat launch! It is both a takeaway and a sit in restaurant, with lovely views onto the harbour. Harbour Fish & Chips is right on the harbour in St Ives, down by the Lifeboat end. LOCATION MAP: Wharf Rd, Saint Ives TR26 1LF They do takeaways downstairs and a sit in restaurant upstairs. The Balancing Eel is tucked up near The Sloop car park in the harbour, between The Wharf Post Office and Moomaids Ice Cream Parlour.
